I’ve lived in Yokohama my whole life, surrounded by the kind of beautiful, thoughtful design that Japan quietly does better than anywhere else in the world. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to Japanese stationery, kitchen tools, and the little objects that make daily life feel more intentional.
But it was pottery class that really sent me over the edge.
A few years ago, I joined a local ceramics workshop — and the moment I held a hand-thrown Japanese bowl, something clicked. I started noticing the weight of a ramen bowl, the way a chawan fits in your palms, the difference between a mass-produced mug and one made by a craftsperson in Arita or Mashiko.
That’s what this blog is about.
